Industrial Condition Monitoring & Data Interpretation
Can you distinguish equipment deterioration from a change in operating conditions—or a problem with the data itself?
This assessment uses realistic industrial scenarios to evaluate your ability to interpret condition-monitoring measurements, assess data quality, recognize meaningful trends, and select appropriate follow-up actions.
Assessment details
• Questions: 30 single-choice questions.
• Answer options: Four per question, with one best answer.
• Recommended time: 60 minutes.
• Level: Foundation to Practitioner, with selected advanced interpretation scenarios.
Topics covered
• Monitoring methods and measurement selection.
• Sensor reliability, data quality, and measurement consistency.
• Baselines, trends, and operating context.
• Rotating-equipment condition indicators.
• Electrical, thermal, and process measurements.
• Alarm interpretation and maintenance follow-up.
Instructions
Read each scenario carefully and consider the asset’s speed, load, process conditions, measurement method, and relevant history.
Check whether readings are current, reliable, and comparable before drawing conclusions. Distinguish an anomaly from a confirmed fault, and consider what additional evidence would strengthen the diagnosis.
For quantitative questions, check units, baseline values, observation periods, and stated assumptions. A basic calculator may be used.
When selecting a follow-up action, consider data confidence, failure consequences, and applicable operating procedures.
Complete the quiz independently to obtain a useful indication of your development needs.
Your results support focused learning and supervised practice. Successful completion does not independently verify specialist diagnostic competence or authorize equipment shutdown, restart, or maintenance decisions.
